:?: I am in the Process of getting a new tank started since I moved to Orlando, FL from Pittsburgh, (can’t wait to save myself a lot of money from the shipping charges on the Aquacultured Rock, Going to make a Some trips to TBS and Gulf-View) and I was looking for some tanks and I came across this link in a recent search. Have any of you ordered off of Glasscages.com?? Their Link is Below.
I was just wondering what the quality of these tanks are?? :?:
Thanx in advance,

Hi,

Here is a link to our local WAMAS board where someone is selling a Glasscages tank. He mentions a "lack of communication" about the tank, but you might want to contact him for details about the experience. If you can't access this page (it's on the For Sale/Trade forum which may be restricted to members(?), let me know and I'll try to contact him.

Hey JT, welcome to the neighbourhood.

Never heard of these guys, they certainly have some interesting tank sizes,, especially that 75 long.

Maybe it's just me,, but the silicone on their tanks looks a bit messy.

Their 240 long looks real good.

I am considering them myself but unforunately can't speak of their quality.

I did get very responsive email regarding my interest in the 240. Shipping would cost me $220 but I can save that by picking it up locally at one of the shows they go to.

Hope someone here has bought from them and will comment.

A guy down the street from me has one. It looks OK at most. They are extremely cheap, but they are what you pay for. Their silicone job is mediocre (generous and polite term here) at best. They do deliver for free if they happen to be coming to an area near you for a show. Warranty as explained by them to me is for all practical purposes non-existant. This is how it works: you empty your tank and either take it ot a show where they will be or mail it to them at your cost. Then, they will either deliver it back to you at your cost or will bring it for free at one of the shows for you to pick it up. That may involve months in between. So what do you do with the critters in the mean time?? They don't care. That was their answer to that question.

I can't comment on their service or support because I do not own a tank from them, but I do know three people that have and they are very very pleased with their tanks. One was a 240 and two were 180. Quality was good, price was more than reasonable, delivery to one of their show was free. If you want it sooner or later, than you will have to pay shipping.

No offense to Dimaggio, but do you know any aquarium dealers that would replace one of their tanks to house your livestock if you had to send the tank back for repairs?

Eddi,
I think most any aquarium dealer would if you bought the tank from them. I never heard of sending a tank back for repairs. If it leaks you get a new one. If you broke it somehow or caused it to crack by setting it up wrong it might be an issue, but usually it is just replaced with few questions asked.

No offense taken. I didn't mean they would house your livestock. Nobody would for that matter. The point I was trying to amke was that you make have to sit for months and months waiting for a replacement tank while your livestock sits in buckets in a living room. That is very different when you buy a oceanic tank for example, that would only take a few weeks at most to be replaced free of charge to you.
The main point is that since they would only deliver to a show, it may be many months before they deliver there again. You don't have to wait, but it will cost you above and beyond what the tank cost you. In contrast, a store bought tank that leaks, all you have to do is drop it off at the store and come back to pick up the new one when it arrives. It may not sound like much of a difference for the large price difference, but sit for 5 min. and think about what you would have to go through if it happened to you today. The other thing that was a bit unsettling to me (this was a personal pet peeve) is that not only do they not water test their tanks, but they even refuse to. That sounds stupid to me if you are delivering a tank 1000 miles away that may leak when you get there. They claim none of the other manufacturers do it either.
I am not bashing them. I have never done business with them. I am just telling you what they told me on the phone and what my friend's tank look like.
