my shrimp just had a bunch of babbies and i was wondering if there is any chance of raising them. i moved them to an isolatioon tank but i need info on what they eat ect..Also does anyone know of any books about this subject ..has it ever been done with succsess?

This is a topic that we should have a standard reply for because it comes up quite often.

Basically you can't raise them and it isn't worth trying.

April Kirkendall wrote a book called "How to Raise and Train your Peppermint Shrimp" (or something like that), which is Lysmata wurdemanni.

It's a lot of effort to raise Lysmata shrimp from larvae. Possible, but not at all easy (they require different feeds at different times, esp. during the first day or two of their lives, etc.) I would expect Lysmata amboinensis to be similar to wurdemanni in terms of difficulty.

I would be willing to suggest that L. amboinensis and L. grabhami are in fact much more difficult than L. wurdemanni, given the number of success stories for that species. In fact I concur with npaden - don't bother.

On that note, I should mention that of course there are two types of scarlet cleaner shrimp, something I did not alude to in my first post. L. amboinensis is found in the Pacific, while L. grabhami is Caribbean.
