I live in Southern California. Riverside area. Looking to buy a 300gallon tank. I currently have a 100gallon tank with a 32 gallon sump. Pros and cons on glass vs acrylic. I would like to get a glass setup. The tank will be housed in my garage. space will not be an issue. I plan on using the 100 hundred gallon as a sump. 32gallon will be a quarantine tank. I need to know where to buy then tank. Also looking for dimensions. I think I would like a long tank. rather than a wide one. I also know that Im getting into the big bucks arena here. I mostly have the equipment to run everthing. Just need solid advice. Thanks for the time.

For something this size, you are looking at either acrylic, Starphite, or regular glass tank. Do a search on the glass/acrylic thread and you will find all the pros and cons about that particular issue, so I am not going to say any more on that.
There are a few tank manufactors in SoCal area. Give them a call, as well as tank fabricators in other area of US and Canada. The more quote you have, the more likely you will get a reasonable quote. Or you can look around for used tank. Used tank offer you better deal, but you will be less flexible in what you are getting, as well as issue such as potential leak and scratch. Post WTB post in the sale forum and see if anyone in the area have what you want.
For 300 gal, you are either looking at something like 8X2X2.5feet. There are other dimension, but all come out to 40 cubic feet, such as 4X2X5 if you want a tall tank.
My personal experience is that it take lots of time in planning and setup for such large tank. However, every second of planning will save you minutes, if not hours of problem later on.

Thanks for the info. I think I would go for the 8ft long Tank. I have three large tangs. I go them from a buddy. My hundred gallon is cramped with such large fish. I like the idea of a glass tank. I plan on putting the 100gal underneath. I would run two corner overflows to the 100gallon and run a return pump. I want simple plumbing. Unfortunately I will not be able to drill my hundred gallon. I can use a in-sump pump. and run the returns to the display tank. I know movement would be important. I have about 150lbs of live rock. will need another 200LB. or more. what is a reaonable price for a glass tank clear glass? Here s a pic of my blue tang. He s about 5yrs old. Pic is blurry. THe blue tang is pretty young . Got him about two weeks ago.

I went to the advance aqua tanks. and they do make a 240gallon. Will this tank bow? Im keeping the tank in my garage. I plan on one middle overflow. with three 3/4 bulkheads for returns. My hundred gallon sump will hold a subermisble pump. any ideas or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks
All acrylic run-of-mill 240 gal will bow to some degree. I did not see enough glass tank to tell you, but it should be less. Bowing in glass is a bigger concern, however.
It is relatively easy to find 240, since it is a standard size. You can get a custom one for less or more. For example, a 8X4X1 will be an excellent propagation tank, but will be too shadow for most purpose dispite the cheap cost. Taller tank will be more expensive due to the use of thicker material.
3 3/4 return maybe a bit small.... My personal opinion is to go with 3 or 4 one-inchers if not bigger. You can always get a brushing if they are too big, you know.

If you're still looking for a 300 glass, there's one in Temecula for sale, drilled with overflows on both ends, 1-1/2 " i think, also drilled for 1" returns, It was a dealers coral show tank.
