After my whatever outbreak...I was concidering running my UV 24/7 again. When I first started several years ago I understood that a UV was as essential as a skimmer, but that changed over the years. However I am now wondering if I would have continued to run the UV if my losses would not have come. I have read that the UV kills good as well as bad and is impatrial to what it kills, so my question would be do the benefits outweigh the downfalls.............Anyone?

TIA

It might helped, but not a definitely a solution if you can repeat everything you did and put the UV on it. So was it some type of bacterial outbreak or what?

FWIW, I feel that UV is not really something that ones go out and buy if they don't have one laying around. There are other thing that can be done that will give the tank more benefit with that money, such as better skimmer or light. But for those that already have it handy, it is not a big pros and cons issue since the electricity cost will be used to pay for the peace of mind.

Well what I and some others have come to the conclusions was it was m velvet. Who knows for sure lost about 10 fish in a matter of a few days. I am currently running 2-250W 20K's, 2-VHO 03's over my 150. I also am running a ETSS 500 skimmer, so I do believ i have that covered  I have had this laying around for awhile, I used it when I first set the tank up a few years ago. GUess It will be up running again tommorow.
