I'm curious to see what most people prefer. If you had to pic between ONLY large fish or ONLY small fish for the rest of your reefing days, which one would you pick? (Let's assume you just won a 300 gal. tank so tank size was no issue....Also, IMO some Tangs can be classified as either, so leave them out)

Big: Large angels, butterflies, puffers other large predatory fish, etc.

Small: Clowns, Damsels/Chromis, Firefish, Dwarf Angels, etc.

I used to only like small fish, but a mature angelfish is a sight to behold IMO.

I've always been a fan of large fish, groupers especially. In my next house, I'm going to do a 400 gallon grouper tank maybe.
If I had to chose though, and we're talking reef tanks here, I'd pick the little guys. I can put more of them in the tank, and they have a true environment to live in, rather than a prison. I'd feel better having a sixline wrasse in a 300 gallon tank, than a 24" grouper.
Plus, there isn't anything cooler looking in a larg tank than a school of chromis or anthias.

I prefer small fish. Although, when we get the 180 up, then I may keep (a) larger fish.

I saw a real nice Whimple Butterfly Fish yesterday and almost got him but changed my mind. I like them all.

Small.

If I had it to do over again I would not have my tangs, they are eating, pooping, sps breaking, frag knocking over, water splashing, giant pain in the butts.

My sailfin tang, who is enormous, leaps up out of the water when I am preparing to put nori in the tank, sloshing water all over the place.

I want little, gentle, fish that swim in and out of the rockwork like little jewels.

Wow.. 8O

I love my big fish. Of course you need a big tank. They all have names and react to them individually.

Small fish are "cute".

I was wondering what kind of rig you had, Alfy! I hadnt pegged you for the reefer type; maybe more just the SW aquarium type, but ya fooled me!
