What I got setup I hope works good the system has LR and I just finished putting 150lbs of Southdown in it's new. But I got an electric battery powered vac for vacuming, and when plumbing I installed a bulk head with a spigot with 3/4" hose threads on it. I then connected and ran a hose to the my house's sump pump. This way I'll be able to vacume neatly without having to stop or remove too much water. Then I just shut off my skimmer and return pump and open the valve and let her drain. I then fill the sump fire up the pumps and continue adding water to the sump untill everything is at the correct level. Of coure I had to install a valve on the topoff so it can be shutt off during t-his but hey water changes will be pretty much self done. I plan on adding another mechanical float switch (Kent makes them) adding to a resevoir stashed away and full of Saltwater set to my tanks specs. Then it'll be shutt of the FW vavle shut off pump open spigot then wait, go have a ciggarette. Once its drained clos the spigot, and open the SW valve, when the water level tops out the float switch and turn on the pumps. It'll self fill and level, then close SW Valve and open FW or more specifically the Kalkwasser valve but that's symantics. This will make vacuming easy and do-able anytime I need too without bucketing used water away and bucketing in new SW, and water changes will be effortless just turning valves while sittin on the floor in front of the tank with the cabinet open.
