I am running a hangon refugium. I presently have Cautemorpha, and Caulerpa growing in it, but the Cau lerpa doesn't look well. It is lighted by two subcompact florescent bubbles. It was suggested that I place one 4100k 9W in to replace the blue one which was in the fixture when I got it. The other bulb is considerably higher in Kelvins and produces a much more blue light. I am wondering if I should replace it with another 4100k?

I run 6700k bulbs over mine and it works great. I have also seen really good results with the pink/white PC bulbs that some suppliers offer.

:D I appreciate the quick helpful responses that I received. Now I just have to figure out how to get the cynobacteria to stop killing my Caulerpa

I suspect that your tank is either cycling or has too large a bio-load. Use protein skimming and activated carbon, a good phosphate free brand, too help get your cyano under control.

Most recommend 5000K -6500K for macros. As with most algae available nutrients and photoperiod are also significant.
