Salifert's KH/Alk Test Kits just arrived today, The reading value is 13.3dKH or 4.8meq/l as in the table. The other water's parameter are,
Calcium ~430ppm (Tropic Marin)
PH Morning(Before Light) 8.2~8.3, Evening 8.4 (Tropic Marin & Fastest reading the same)
PO4 ~2ppm (Salifert)
Silicate 0.7ppm (Salifert)
From the last 2 week, I added only a 1 capful of Bio-Calcium from AquaCraft Co. to bring calcium level up from about 370ppm (to ~430) but no buffer. But before that, I added Kent's ProBuffer dKH a capful/week without any testing the dKH level. And the last WC is performed 3 weeks ago with Reef Crystal mixed.
I know that i shouldn't dose it without testing, but the direction of Kent's Buffer said "added a capful/week to maintain a buffer in a good range"!!. Isn't it?
My question is
1. Will the high dKH level harmful to my demsel and any invert?
2. Is it possible to the fault reading or fault of some test kit? (I double tested everything)
3. Suppose a reading is true, How to solve this problem? I've read the Chemistry article in reefkeeping.com & advanceaquarist's article on nov2002 already but not found the exactly solution because my Calcium & dKH level are between the zone (as in the article).
My last posted have some pictures of my tank and maybe have some useful information
