That's a riot if it's anything like mmm....t....mmm....tourette's, you ball hair.

Hey, my youngest boy is a Touretter. :P
(Yeah, no sheet, but he twitches; no blurting, no stutter.)

chinaman, if you reread my first post, you will see that it started off with me telling you that this behavior you describe is generally normal, not only for this anemone species, but for most of them. Let's try to focus on the forest too, now.

DLART, my post to chinaman is the result of going through his previous postings, and previous responses. Look, I am sorry the truth hurts, but essentially what's happening here is animals are being purchased that are, more likely than not, destined for failure. And not just fish - I mean, let's get real here, you've got on your stock list "corals", and something you've identified first only as a "purple-headed wrasse" that you've now gone further to ID as a type of parrotfish. Do you know how parrotfish feed? If so, why on earth would you put one in a reef tank, let alone one of 29 gallons in size? This is really frustrating, because you haven't once placed a post saying, "I'm considering a ____________, help me decide before I get it."

All this is happening right next to the Industry forum. Is it still news that reefs and fisheries are in peril? Do you understand, I mean truly understand, what role hobbyists who "shoot from the hip" play in this drama? Please know that part and parcel of my years of experience was my time working retail. I can guarantee that if you were a customer of mine, you would NOT have gone home with those jawfish, that parrotfish, or the angel (that's right, no matter HOW MUCH your wife wanted it! It's a living creature). Why? Because it was my job to ensure my customers succeeded. I often refused to sell fish to folks based on information like this, and I had a boss who supported me. The end result was people who had beautiful systems and healthy specimens.

Also, know that I have my own prejudices. On one hand, I'm answering queries for wetwebmedia that are much like this (though honestly, few are quite this bad). If you know anything about Bob Fenner's ideas and sentiments regarding the hobby, then you can understand why my interest is in helping you NOT kill animals. On the other I find repeated posts from you talking about these problems you're having. Sure, you're doing the best you can with the knowledge you have, which is why I take an interest in trying to help you get BETTER knowledge. You came here asking for advice, not to be assured. I am giving you my best advice that was very hard won, through more than a couple of years of experience. Yes, there are people who have the jawfish successfully in small tanks - the size of the tank isn't the issue here, the expertise of the aquarist, the knowledge, the age and stability of the system IS.

I am not trying to bust your chops (Ok, maybe a little bit, because I really feel that you're completely blowing off the advice you came here asking for). I am far more concerned about the animals under your care, truthfully, than not hurting your feelings. I've tried in previous posts to get the idea across to you, to no avail. I have hit a point where I'm quite frustrated seeing this stuff, and when I hit that point, I don't mince words well (believe me, I re-wrote that post several times to remain emphatic, but not be as biting as I feel right now).

LET US HELP YOU! We can't help you if you refuse to heed.

Throughout all these “advise giving”. No one has told me(EXCEPT seamaiden) that 1st. this is normal with BTA. Its only been a week, I should give it more time. AND 2nd I should feed it more and what with. My water is not fucked up. I check it every 4 days, or unless there is a problem. I’m feeding a **** load of fish and still I can maintain the zeros. This must mean I’m doing something right. As for the crabs….they have grown from 5cm to 20cm. I think I’ve only had 4 for the last 2 months. I have a star fish that started to grow (only about 6cm wide and 3 legs). I got my turbo snail to breed (One baby snail).

Update on the bubble tip. It looks fine again. Open at 5inches.

I appreciate that your are responding to my need and will take your advise and not add anymore to this overcrowded tank. However, my care for these fish are like the best try of a new mother to her baby. I spend more time on this fish tank than I do anything else in my free time. This tank is worst than kids in terms of care. I really am doing the best I can, given I did make few mistakes on selection and overcrowd. I just need to know what I should do with the BTA if i should just feed it and watch what happens or what.

It is normal for a BTA to purge (inflate/deflate) like that for the first couple of weeks. They really need time to completely get used to a new system. You could try feeding it shrimp or silversides.

My cousin has it, too. She stutters whenever she has an angry outburst. It's kinda funny how she says it in another language.

It does look like it may have released some zooxanthellae, but hopefully it'll be OK. Rose BTA's require more light than the green or brown variety.

just because your water tests fine doesn't mean it isn't fucked.

you will learn that if you keep feeding "crap loads of fish".

This must mean I’m doing something right

that depends on your defintion of "right".
i will say that you haven't failed yet, but you are still far from a success in reef husbandry.

Test kits might be suspect on the high Ca.

Anemones like salinity that is closer to NSW values, i.e. 1.026.

SM, take it easy bro(et), lets all relax and have a cold, hard, drink.

Then we can beat the **** out of a certain person for putting a parrotfish in a reef tank lololol.
Well the best way to learn is from your mistakes. IMO

Yes, let's all post in a civil, constructive manner. And remember that criticism can be very constructive.

IMHO, the best way to learn in a hobby that entails the husbandry of dependant lives is by reading and following the advice of those more experienced then you.
