cleaner shrimp molting

before i get any wise cracks, i know they are supposed to. i was just wondering how often. i've only had mine in my 55g for about 2 months. when he did begin to molt boy did he ever. i think he has now molted 6 times. is that normal to do it so often.

That does sound like a lot of molting, 6 times in 2 months. Maybe he is young and doing a lot of growing now that he is in a tank and being fed often.

Mine molt once every 2-3 weeks. I think I'm just plain lucky too, because my pair of cleaners let go a whole bunch of babies into the water too, right before they molt. Fresh fish food!

Mine molts usually once every week or two. There rates can vary, it can depend on the individual, once or twice every couple weeks seems norm though.

Maybe you have too much iodine in your tank? Do you dose iodine or test for it?

my arrow crab molts about that much. Hes a freakin brute now though. I dont think its anything to be worried about. If it aint broke dont fix it.

They molt right after releasing eggs, and then they get 'pregnant' again while their shell is still soft. Once every 9 days or so is not uncommon.
