I'm thinking of making my 200 gallon into a tang tank. What are the coolest tangs?

yellow tang, hippo tang, black tang, naso tang, unicorn tang(push the limit).

just an idea-add a grouper like a panther grouper. that would be a cool tank, IMO! :D

I happen to like my yellow eye tang. Hes cool looking and he eats any algae that he can get to.

Red Sea sailfin (Zebrasoma desjardini, except I think that the ichthyologists (somebody check the spelling please) renamed it to Zebrasoma veliferum Red Sea variety).

No, not orange-flavored tang.

I like Black Tangs and Dussemeri tangs, but too bad the latter gets huge. Maybe someday when I have my 500+ gallon :P

Not to sure about this as the fin ray structure of a Z. veliferum is different than Z. desjardini, as with the overall juvinile pattern and adult pattern. Possibly somebody's hypothesis, but I cannot forsee them being catagorized as the same species.
At any rate. Zebrasoma tangs make good schools. That is how they are found naturally. A school of yellow tangs (even though it is not one of my favorite tangs) is very striking. It just stands out from a distance.
My favorite is Acanthurus lineatus (clown tang).
If you have a few thousand gallons to play with a nice school of Naso vlamingi are pretty cool too.

At over 20", you're gonna need at least 500g. Still, there's nothing like a beautifully lined Red Sea Purple Tang.

Ooh, the chevron tang, C. hawaiiensis. P. hepatus is also a standard favorite. This is another one of my favorites

For me, I like a small tang such as Yellow Tang (must have!), and purple tang or blue tang. Last two I like equally.

My favorite seems to be whatever one I currently own. I'm loving this immature mimic tang:

What do you guys think about Sohal and Clown tangs? I know they can be a bit troublesome, but has anyone had any luck with them? I think i'll probably get a yellow, purple, blue hippo, red sea sailfin, and sohal or clown if they won't go crazy on all of the others. WIll this combo get along or fight like crazy?

They are the most beautiful, imo. I particularly like the sohal. I think they can be a bit worse than "troublesome" though.

Never had one myself.
