algae in sump?

i have a 54 gallon corner with a sump. i have some sps and softies evrthing is doing great.my tank has no algae on the glass just a little hair algae on one rock nothin my snails,sea hair or algae blenny cant take care of. then i have a light on for about 8 hours for the plants and chaeto in the sump.but im starting to worry about the algae growing in it.my question is is it ok to let the algae grow in the sump or get rid of the algae? :scratchch

I keep a chevron in my sump 1 year now I feed him once a week he keeps the algae from growing perfectly... my sump is 125gal filled with lr, lights on for 14 hrs.I have that single leaf calerpa...

If micro-algae is building up in the sump around the macro i would think that your tank would be next... the macro should be outcompeting other algaes for nutrients.

Thought so to, but if your bio load is heavy enough, and not enough water changes this happens..
