I'm using a 4-stage RO system (PureLife) which made in USA but this system does not contain DI unit. I've detected about 0.5~0.7ppm silicate using Salifert Test Kit. I'm considering DI unit add-on now but I have seen someone talking about special silicate filter like one from Kent.

So, What if I choosing to add DI unit to my current system, how much it will solve my silicate problem? Will it bring down to less than 0.00ppm? or i need a special silicate filter would be better? if yes, where to buy one?

Note that I don't have a TDS meter to measure TDS value.

Randy did an article or two on silicate, and you may want to take a look.

IMO, it is nothing to be alarm about. I don't remember if DI will solve your problem completely, but certainly it will help with silicate and other nutrient issue. You are looking at about $50 for a DI add on, which is a bargain compare to other equipement if you consider the benefit.
