Hi,
I currently have a Nasso tang, a model citizen at that. I'd like to add a yellow tang. I haven't done it yet, but want to do a little research before. Are these two going to fight?
Thanks,

I purposefully left that information out. I know if you put two yellows together they don't do well. I'm wondering if this is true of Nassos and Yellows. Thats all.

According to various books, if the tangs have different shapes etc., they are less likely to get into a snit. So if you're going to do this you want to avoid two tangs of the same genus.

The yellows are Zebrasoma, the Nasos are a different genus (Naso, as I recall).

I have no personal experience.

Ahh cool. That's my question answered. I was concerned about the genis and species. Thanks so much.

I have a Yellow, Orange Shoulder and Kole Tang in the same tank. After some initial bickering, they settled down. No problems. FWIW, the Yellow was a long-time resident when I introduced the smaller Orange Shoulder. The Kole came last and was smaller than the other two. Being different species, colors and smaller size, I guess they weren't seen as much of threat by the other Tangs.

I have a 200 gallon that I am going to attempt to put a yellow, red sea sailfin, purple, blue hippo, and one other tang into. Not sure on the last one yet. Maybe a powder blue or an achilles. What I really want is a Sohal, but i'm afraid I will have problems with that guy.

I think you should be ok with the yello and the naso, though it depends on the individual personality of the fish.

IMO it's impossible to give good advice without knowing the tank size. Nasos get big. I have seen these fish together in larger tanks (200g plus)without much bickering.

Ok.. the tank is 10 Gallons. ...would a 5g be better for THREE Nasos? I wanna see them fight.

IMO an adult Naso needs a minimum of an 8' long tank.

Naso's have a reputation for being peaceful for a tang. The only problem is they get big. Supposedly Naso tang is mighty good eating.

I'm well aware of the needs of the Naso... If you read the thread, I really didn't want to go there. Thanks all for the Helpful information.

Well, the behaviour of the fish inside the tank is going to be greatly affected by the size of the tank. That's just the way it is. If the tank was large enough you could put a dozen yellow tangs in it without issues, but it would take an awfully big tank. Likewise if the tank is on the small size for a Naso by itself then it may see the introduction of any additional grazing fish as a threat to it's territory and not welcome the newcomer with open arms. It is just a fact of life that tank size will affect the behaviour of the fish inside it.

If you didn't want advice you shouldn't have asked for it.

Take a look at when I joined. Do you think that I'm that much of an onion? I asked a simple question, and you chose to go down that tang path. Move on dude. My QUESTION WAS ANSWERED WAY BEFORE YOU DECIDED TO PUT YOUR 2 CENTS IN.

Can't we all get along?

Clearly, you must be the same genus, because when put into the same forum, you get into a snit :)
