well, already tried the DIY PET bottle fishtrap but apparently that didn't work... the blue devils just ignored all the food i placed inside it. is there another way i can remove them other than tearing down my tank? it's really frustrating and infuriating to see them beat the life out of all the gobies and blue tangs i tried to put in the tank :x

Hmmm, that'll be tough. They are super fast little buggers. Is there anything else in th tank? If not, u could just add a lionfish and take care of them the natural way. 8O

How long did you leave the trap in? Are they the only fish in the tank?

if they are, starve them until they have no coice but to enter the bottle to get food...if they don't, they'll starve to death or get so weak you can catch them anyhow.

I have caught fish by sunning them with a flashlight at night.

The msxt time I want to catch a fish I'm going to get my fisherman friend to come over with a tiny barbless hook and fish the sucker out. Since you want to get rid of these damsels and they are tough little fish, I would like to know if this can work...give it a try and let me know...it beats taring down the tank.

I have to agree with Manny....I had three yellow tails that I couldn't catch no matter what I did...I went fishing...they just laughed. I rented a lionfish.. they just nipped at him and swam circles around his slow butt... traps? Caught some crabs and a snail.

Just take out the rock -- I did it last night and start to finish took about 2 hours...and I rearranged the rock in an even better design.

They hid behind every last rock in the tank... and they were still hard to net with nothing in the tank! Damsels know every inch of their territory..

just my $.03.

Purchase a large barnicle - they love to use them to hide in. Place net over the whole barnicle. Beats the heck out of tearing down the tank. LOL.

tearing the tank means removing ALL the rocks... doesn't sound great. :?

would a camouflaged trap or something that would make it look like a rock work?

seriously.... maybe 2-6 months from now you MIGHT catch them in a trap, im serious if you wanna save yourself some trouble just take the rock out, catch the fish put it back in, trust me it takes maybe 45mins to 1.5 hours to do.... it only took me about 25 minutes, and believe me after getting the rock back in you'll have a huge feeling of relief. maybe try a trap a little longer, but i just couldnt take my damsel laughing at me, so i got mean.
