I would install 2 175MH SE bulbs instead of 1 250MH DE pendant. My tank's center brace blocks some of the light and I don't want to remove or modify the center brace. I would prefer a more focussed reflector like the PFO than a pendant which spreads light out more (escapes into the room).

Lets see, Well I am moving So I am going to redo everything. a close loop that the pvc will run along the bottom of the tank shooting up with a swing check valve so the tank don't drain all the way. No dsb just enough to cover the pipes at the bottom.

I will do one pound per gallon instead of 100lb over to much rock looks ugly. I am setting up my 135 gal again turn it into the fish only tank. My Star and strip puffer will greatly appreciate and my luner wrasse too.

Then the 80 gal is going to be the reef tank. Setup the same with close loop on the bottom. Etc.

72 is going to my friends boss selling that to him for 2,000.00 complete with everything. :D

I AM doing it all over again, so I am deep into doing things differently.

1. Larger tank. Old: 70, New: 210. Corals were growing out of the top of the tank and into the glass. Not enough room for fish, especially tangs.

2. No sandbed in tank. Sand/mud bed will be in sump, where I can replace sections of it over time.

3. Better lighting. Old: VHO, New: 250w HQI pendants and VHO.

4. Better circulation. Old: 3 MJ 1200, New: 2 Tunze 6100 Streams.

5. Better automation and redundancy. Old: Radio Shack X-10 controller. New: AquaController II. Had several heater problems that were noticed AFTER damage was done.

6. Need a chiller. Summers were stressful for the tank, even with VHO.

7. Separate equipment room. Having everything in the stand made maintenance difficult and made the family room too noisy.

8. Calcium reactor. Dosing B-Ionic worked great, but is expensive over the long haul. Also harder for my fishsitter to deal with during vacations.

9. Less rock. I like a more open look.

10. Adequate power. I am running 2 20 amp lines to the garage for the tank.

We'll see how this all works out over the next six months or so.

Make sure you are VERY VERY clear when ordering the tank that you want holes drilled FOR a 1.5" bulkhead and not actually 1.5" holes. Now I'm stuck with tiny 3/4" turbo jets. :?

Actually pay the money to have the tank delivered vs. saving and picking it up. My back is still out of socket.

Definately go with finishing out with seperate stain and poly vs. the 2-in-1 stuff. I don't feel my finish is what it could have been.

Over plumb unions and ball valves. You never know when you are going to have to do some maintence and hacksawing and splicing isn't very mind settling at 1400 gph.
