Wassup everybody! This is my first post on this forum. Anyway my question is who uses coralife marine tank clarifier? The guy at my lfs said that if i used it, it would help promote good purple algae. Ended up buying it and using it for a few months now, purpilish algae spotting all over the tank. Is this from the T.C or is my lfs full of ****? Is this algae benneficial? Did anyone else hear this b4?

Mahalo for any help!

What is in the clarifier that would benefit your tank?

That alone answers your question.

In the end the only thing that helps coraline algae is low P02 and a good stable CA/ALK level.

Also IMO, coralife products are worthless. I wouldn't spend a penny on any of their products. While your at it stay clear of Marc Weiss products as well.

Welcome to RDO!

The coralline algae is an indication of stable calcium level and low phosphate, as Ben said. Some people hate it to gut whenever they need to clean the glass every other day, but other loves it so much that they even willing to pay for "seed."

Just because a tank has good coralline growth does not mean the reefkeeper uses the T.C.. That should answer your question indirectly without being too harsh on any body.
