I have a PowerCompac 36Wx2 lamp, model LV-680. IT doesnt turn on properly. Whenever the timer cycles on, the lamp wont power up. However it will turn on when I disconnect the lamp's connection from the ballast and reconnect it. Why is this? Why won't it power on unless I manually disconnect and reconnect the lights while the power is on? Right now I have to do this every day.

There should be no reason for what it does in your situation. Call the manufacturer/seller and ask for advice.

(Some older flor. ballast has a momentary switch that you need to push for a sec. or so to start the lamp, so you can't really hook it up with a timer, but I doubt that is your case.)

I dunno if this is the same scenario, but I had lights that worked great when directly plugged in, but once a timer was added, they would take up to 15 minutes to come on. Disconnect the timer and they were immediate, with the timer, they took forever. They were NO flourescents on a magnetic ballast. They still turn on immediately unless I use the timer. So it seems to me that I need a better quality timer :)

Have you tested your timer on any other lights?
