I've check my alk again today with Salifert ProfiTest. The result is almost exactly the same as i've tested it last 10 days, which is 13.4dKH or 4.8meq/l[/b[. From the last 2 weeks, I only added a 5ml of Calcium solution from ESV (Part2). NO buffer or any bicarbonate solution added.

1. Are there anything wrong with the Test? Maybe the Test Kit itself or some other water's params that can make the alk reading faulty?

2. If nothing wrong with the Test, How can the alk still the same? I've heard someone and in the advanceaquarist.com said it will be decreasing with the time without do anything. Or I have to wait for a longer time?

3. Will it harmful to fishes or inverts? If it still high for a long time.

This is the last topic that i've posted about high alk. If you need for more info

Thanks in advance.

From what I have read on The Advanced Aquarist, you need to make sure you are not adding any limewater or a calcium carbonate/carbon dioxide reactor, not sure if you make use of one. You should use water changes to help get back to a normal range and do as you are doing by adding a calcium chloride like ESV part2 until you are back in the right area.

Good luck.
