Been there, thought that. They are Anemonia majano. You'll be certain when you are overrun with them and they never get any bigger, just more numerous.

They look like what I call Tulip anemones .I have a couple that I actually purchased from a fellow reefer.According to Dr. Ron they can become a nusiance and they will split if feed directly.I have 6 of them now and I started out with 2.They don't get much bigger than a quarter, but I think they had some great color.I have mine contained to one rock and I hope I can keep them there.

This pic is not mine, just wanted to show you and see if your's look like this.

Yes, Anemonia majano have bubbled tips.

I first thought they were E. quads too - that was 3 years ago. Glad I got rid of them too - I've got a customer with hundreds of them, and he's used the injection method to rid himself of them, but they keep coming back.

Their size when splitting is one good indication...those guys look about the size of a dime when they split. I agree with Jenn that they sometimes have bubble tips as well.

I think one difference between them and the aptasia is that majanos from what I've seen first hand do not seem to sting. I have one that moved into a cluster of yellow polyps without either being bothered, and have them next to star polyps with the same effect.

One other thing I don't understand is everyone I read says they inject them to get rid of them. The ones I have are so easy to remove, I just grab them and the let go. Maybe I'm lucky!
