I just got a clown from the lfs the other day, and he seemes healthy enough, but yesterday i noticed he is getting a discolored blotch on his tail. it looks kind of infected and has a few white spots on it, (looks infected) any idea what could have caused it and any remedies? thanks.

he's in a 5g nano setup with 2 damsels and an anemone(not sure what kind, but he wont go near it), a few misc snails, hermits, and mithrax crabs. he was eating frozen brine shrimp but the past day or so he hasnt looked very interested.

Have you checked your water parameters? The damsels may be picking on him and stressing him out. 5 gal kinda small for all those fish???

Do you have a pic of your setup?

water is good. no ammonia, nitrates. i have a little yellowtail damsel and he picks on the other two a little, but i dont think he did that kind of damage. tank is small, plan on upgrading to a 90g soon. no pics right now sorry.

If the water parameters are good I think he might be stressed by the abuse he's taking off the damsel and the crowded tank. (just a thought)

I had a small (less than 1") yellowtail damsel harrass, and eventually kill due to constant stress, a nice blue tang 3 times it's size. Keep an eye on yours. This same fish is now quite peaceful, but he's never afraid of anything.
