To our dismay, it appears that the female clownfish of our pair has taken up with our blue spotted jawfish. She spends endless minutes cozying up, swimming within an inch of his head as it peeks out of its hole, trying her best to turn him into an anemone host. The jawfish's disgust is almost palpable.

The saddest part is, a few days ago we purchased an honest-to-god rose bubble-tip anemone. It has taken up residence in a crevice only 4-5 inches from the jawfish. So far, she has ignored it utterly, continuing to concentrate all of her considerable attentions on the completely disinterested vertebrate.

So much for recreating a natural reef. Perversity rules our tank.

Give it some time...I suspect your clown will grow tired of your BSJ and might then draw its attention to your rose.

I wish you well with your BSJ...one of the most beautiful fish out there, imo.

BSJ what a beatiful fish. I had one but my dumb a$$ though it was safe going open top since it made a burrow, acclimated, and was fine had 2 burrows matter a fact. But 2 weeks later it duissapeared. I found it under the fuge stand a nice peice of reef jerky. Yup he went capet surfing. So I will replace hime when I get a top. Don't lose yours.

 Well, despite a glass top, the blue spotted jawfish comitted suicide 2 days ago. He jumped out of the hole next to the overflow. Sure enough now that her anemone substitute is gone this morning the female clownfish is right in the middle of the rose BTA.

The clown left the anemone and our 5 year old is sitting in front of the tank trying to get her back in by saying "warmer, warmer" when she gets closer and "colder" when she gets further away. I'll let you know if the method works.

Probably one of the best quotes that I've read on a forum.

Sorry you lost your jawfish. Let us know how the warmer/colder method works out.

That's one of the funniest things I've heard in a while :D
