Overflow Hose Noise....stop that!!

I have a CPR overflow on my 75gal FOWLR. I don't have a problem with flushing but I have a small amount of hose noise as the water rushes down the pipe. How do I stop it?

I was thinking about some kind of insulation..but I figure I would ask the experts

I am using 1"ID vacuum hose to move the water down to my 20L sump that is just behind the wall that my tank is up against. There are no significant bends in the pipe and the pipe is submerged in my sump. The return flow is powered by a Mag5 located in the sump about 4.5 feet below the tank's top.

You can read this thread, lots of great suggestions. What finally worked for me was adding back pressure with some 45 degree angles instead of letting it just flow straight down to the sump.

Yeah.. All good solutions, but I think my problem is actually the hose that I am using. I am using vacuum hose that is ribbed so it is like a continual waterfall. It really isn't that loud but I have good ears

I am thinking about just using some foam insulation around the hose. I am just trying to find the right product. The flow down my hose seems to be quite regular and I have enough slope to allow the water to flow …. But the hose still has thin walls and I can here the water.

I think the best advice for me from the other thread was just to wait until it starts to “slime up”. I figure that some thick foam/rubber would be a decent DIY solution for my problem. There are a lot of different problems when it comes to water noise so the advice really need to be targeted well.

I am not sure how these overflows work, but IMO once the air bubbles have gone, then all you can do is have the straightest pipe. I have bubbles, the pipes "hiss" at me....If I eliminate the bubbles, the hiss is less - but still present (but that's running a siphon, which I don't like - I have weirs and siphons have no capicity in reserve).
