I am the VP of our local marine aquarium society. We meet monthly and I attend almost all meetings. There are a number of our members and Board of Directors that are regulars here at Reefs.org.

i went once, to a MPLS planted tank show/club meeting. i think my planted tanks were better than theirs. but a nice dood gave me some frogbit for free.

i have yet to see a resource that trumps the internet. websites (like this one, thanks RDO!) have, for me, are the mainstay of knowledge etc.

The hard part is to get good Guess speakers. I would probably hold it at my house to much money to rent out spaces. :D

I attend them all the time. I have to. ;)
The frag swap alone is worth the drive for most folks. Add on to that the education they get from guest speakers, and people see the value.

Oh, and occasionally, we do have beer at the meetings.
