I just got this bad boy up and running but during the initial setup the son-of-a-gun nearly flooded over on me. So now I'm concerned about this being a future problem.

Any one here either have problems of ANY kind with this unit or the opposite, never had a problem?

Any comments would be appreciated....

Puff - I sent you a PM, but for anyone else interested, I took the long tube off the inside of the output. Mine almost flooded on me also. Now the output is just a gravity drain. It doesn't affect the water flow at all.

I've got one. You need some patience when starting it, because it needs to push air out of the output tube. After it does that, the level past the output baffle drops down to almost your tank level, and it runs fine. You can then open the input valve fully.

I glued an anti-snail screen on the output elbow, and put a piece of screen over the output baffle to act as an anti-algae screen. I'm now growing lots of unidentified macroalgae, but haven't had the guts to post pictures. I'm afraid someone will tell me all my macroalgae are actually hair algae or something bad....

I'll try to remember & post a couple of pictures of my modifications here this evening.

Regards,

OK, here we go: Photos of my mods on the Aquafuge. It'll be 3 posts, because I can't figure out how to attach 3 photos in 1 post. I've cut down the resolution, etc. Send me a PM if you want a full-res photo (something like 1+ MB/photo).

And last, but not least, here it is in operation. (Photo is a bit dark because the flash is pointing in the wrong direction, I think).

I've been using it unmodified for about 8 months. It's a good little fuge, nary a problem.
