'VENT ON'
So my dumb ass LFS get's top end live rock in, and then sells it dry in the box for $7.99lb. They let it sit there for DAYS! Then the idiot who works there says "it's fine like this" BS!!!!! Because all those cool things like tiny stars, sponges, snails, tunicates, chitons, limpets and worms that we all think are so cool all die off. So what you are left with is expensive bacteria if you're dumb enough to buy this rock. This LFS has no idea what the point of live rock is in the first place aside from the bactereia that survives this treatment.
'VENT OFF'
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. :D

Good store in general, though not if you're looking for high end frags - or good live rock!

Aquarium Concepts in Seattle, WA was the best! They knew there stuff big time and were always willing to help. Very knowledgable. Too bad they closed up here....

Jim, how do you think "live rock" gets to the states?

I see what you're getting at. I just think it shouldn't remain out of water longer than it has to.

I think your missing Jims point. Im sure he knows it gets shipped without water. What he is saying is it then sets for days on end at the LFS. If they put it in water right away then they could eliminate alot of the die off.

That's not typical of AC. They usually have pretty good LR from my experience. I've visited a lot of LFS around the area and have found AC having one of the better LR selections. My first batch of LR (70lbs 3 years ago)came from AC (marshall islands) and was teeming with life (tons or coralline, pods, stars, etc.). Perhaps you came in when they just received their shipment. I've seen at times though when they do have it out for a few days prior to tossing it in the curing tank (due to not having space for it).

Then again, this was when they were at their old place (on C street I believe). I haven't been in there lately since their quality of stuff and prices don't quite overwhelm/floor me any longer. I see better deals at TP's (more selection) and Atlantis (better prices).

That's too bad if they've gone down hill even further....

I was just at AC the other day for the first time. Nice looking store in general. That's kind of a shame.
