Made my 1st batch of RO/DI water last week, 35gal. It's a 5 stage 75gal per day unit. I mixed the salt on Tues and changed the water in my 125 reef on Sunday. However before doing this i tested the newly made saltwater and discovered zero everything except Ammonia. Ammonia was about .05-1 based on my expert ability to compare the color of the tube to the color chart
Anyway i tested it again and got the same results. That shouldn't be normal i wouldn't think but then again maybe my test kit is just a POS.

i went ahead and changed the water and couldn't see ill affect on the livestock.

Has anyone else seen results like this using RO/DI water?

You should test the DI water straight, since I *think* all salt mix has some ammonia in it. If there are 1ppm of ammonia in the DI water, it may show up in TDS meter...

just a thought also, make sure you're not rinsing your test vile in tap water prior to performing the test, always use your RO water to clean and calibrate.
