My local store is closing there store front :(

I got in the store to find out there closing within days

This really sucks, these guys (Aquarium Concepts) have been the greatest help I have ever recieved in this hobby except reef.org of course! There closing because they cannot compete with the online stores as far as pricing.

They gave me an awesome deal, I got all of the following for $32.00!:

DT's (small)
Yelow Tang, was the owneres personal fish brought into the shop today.

Frozen Brine

Even going out of business they give me an awesome deal, gonna miss these guys......

That's sad to hear. I try not to buy online to support local business, unless it's ridiculously overpriced or something I have trouble finding.

That's the nature of the beast, especially in this recent economic climate.

Now I wish I would have bought locally but everyone knows that local pricing vs internet pricing has a very big gap. Still sucks bad though.......

Yet another of the things that "everyone knows" that isn't necessarily true!

We compete online with all the other online stores and have similar pricing. And our in-store prices are the same as online.

It can be done. The store just needs enough volume to make their break-even point with a lower markup. That being said, not many stores follow this price policy -- our prices are sometimes 1/2 the local competition. Of course, if you do that and get the word out, you'll have no problem gaining the volume.

No offense to your LFS, but savvy business tactics will always win the day, even in the face of online competition.
