i introduced a leapord wrasse yesterday to the tank, and i cant find the fish now. It didnt jump out, i cant find it in the rocks or the sand, and i dont see it in either the filter or skimmer. 8O Where could it be, is it possible that its buried in the sand? Nothing ate it, the only thing that couldve wouldve been my brittle star but there would be evidence of that. Nothing. What do you think happened? TIA, also plz read thread "EMperor 200 wont go", thnx. :) :( 8O :?: :?

Yes, he will probably hide for a few days, mine went right in the sand when I introduced him, and it took a while before I saw glimpses of him cruising in the rocks, then he gradually because bolder and bolder.

Great fish! I love them, mine was my fave fish, until he jumped out the back of my tank. :(

Mine was a favorite also, until he jumped out of about a 1" x 1" hole in the back right corner.

ok thnx, i found him by looking thru bottom of tank, can see tail fin. He'll be alright down there?

He should be fine, he just wants to hide under the covers until he is sure no boogy men are out there to get him.

I was on the look out for one, partially to help controlling flat worms (I did the "EXIT" yesterday with success, but I expect them to come back...), but after reading the article on reefkeeping I am not sure now....
I was thinking of covering the tank with egg crate, because I have three large openings in the back where my overflow boxes are, will that be sufficient?

Egg crate will keep a leopard in, as long as you can get it to fit snug so there are no opening, it is AMAZING how fish can find the smallest opening. (just ask my H ornatissimus! )

Just wait. I don't know for sure if he is OK, but his behaviour is pretty normal for a new leopard. He will get bolder in time. Besides, what else can you do but wait? I don't remember how long it was for mine to come out, but it was long enough that we were truly convinced he was dead, and it was a real shocker when he revealed himself.

Also, many burrowing wrasses get on a very rigid sleeping schedule, and he may have jet lag, depending on how long he was in the US before you got him.
