thanks that info was great, ill really take it to use. would it be ok or bad to introduce my two clowns and or button polyps or mushrooms at the same time, so that itll be a reef from the start in stead of a fowlr tank?

Introduce live stock slowly. You have to give you bio filtration a chance to cathc up with the new bio load of a new fish or coral. I dont see a proble introducing two clowns at the same time but try to introduce things far apart like a week or so. You can start your tank either reef or fowlr however you wish its totally up to you. I can get Green star polyps to live in my system and other people think of it like a weed so its kinda wishy washy but I am sure I can do more to make sure my water quality is better but I jsut gave up on star polyps and stick to my xenia.

hey whats that suppose to mean?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

He means this is going to cost a bit. For my Tank and NO lighting with stand and canopy I paid about $800. I highly suggests lookig for a used tank and stand to start with. THere are a bunch of diamonds in the rough

Hey dude,
Dont take that "money" thing too seriously! (not) This hobby just sent me on a spending spree at Petsmart and Walmart and the LFS to pick up
"a few things" for my "new" reef propogation project - a few things that cost me over $350 :!: :!: :!:

This hobby will send u to the bank more than your wife.... It will make you hit an ATM like a victim of gamblers anonymous .....

Yeah, sutff realy adds up. A sump is a good idea since it gives u extra water volume, which is good, and a place to put your equipment. Thre are more reasons too, lots more.

Dont forget to quarantine. Itll save many a fish's lives. And find a good LFS.

BTW i finally reached {squat} YAYYAYYAYYAY :D :D

Squat is when you hit a thousand posts. It either means you know what your talking about by now or you just ppost a lot of nonsense. If your interested I have a HOT overflow I could sell you for a really good price, from my first reef tank that I slowly pieced together. I eventually upgraded to an internal overflow, but depending on what your doing if you need one let me know.

which is best for the begininner?????

They are both pretty easy to use either one will work fine if you are using a sump. If you are not using a sump you dont need an overflow unless you have a refugium

Hey JustReefit....I saved big time $$$ going used. There is always someone, who is moving, tired of maint., upgrading, or low on cash looking to sell stuff. I got a great deal on a used running system and was able to spend the cash I saved to upgrade to better lights, back up filtration, etc. My LFS was bummed when they found out that I wasn't going to spend 4 grand in their store, but at least I have money to spend there on little stuff and livestock. I hope all of these opinions don't cause you to lose focus...it's supposed to be fun right?

Generally, the average WC would be 5-10% every 2-4 weeks. DO NOT remove the fish and corals just for a WC.
