I have a Gramma that I have had in QT for about three weeks. We had a bout with ick and moved everybody over to the QT tank and have been treating with Hypo. Everybody else seems to be doing fine but my Gramma still scratches. He also seems to have deteriorating flesh around his head. It seems that when the ick thing started his face got really dark around his mouth and eyes and now it appears to be clear. It is almost like the purple around the mouth and eyes is wearing off. Is this normal? Is it possible that this is part of the healing process?

Skin tissue coming off can be a symptom of Cryptocaryon irritans ( Marine Ich) so yes this may be expected. Keep up the the hyposalinity treatment and remember your main tank must remain fallow for at least 6 weeks to effectively stop the life cycle of the parasite.
