I am intrested in a ro unit but the manufacter recommends a optimal psi of 65 i was wondering how this would be acheived. If possible with out spending to much money, because the the filter themselves are not cheap. Or does the pressure make that much of a difference? Oh yeah i am looking at the Kent TFC 24 gpd (clear canister). Also any comments on the filter it self would be appreciated.

The RO would just have less than it's rated output.

What is the PSI of your tap water?

ewe, well water!

You can buy a water pressure gauge at any harware store. You thread the guage onto a spigot, turn on the spigot and it measure the water pressure.

They are cheap too. Like under $10 I think.

Um i can all ready pretty much guess that my pressure would not be 65psi. You that that the only thing would be a lower output per day. This would not harm the filter in any way would it? Plus I don't think that filter comes with an attachment for the faucet. I was planning on just haveing a large bucket with water and a heater for the 70-77 degrees recomended.

First of all, heating water to get better output from RO is a waste of energy unless you are using solar heat. This "improvement" was mentioned several times, and I hope that this method was never popularized without note about the cost of electricity.

Sorry about my rant. Bact to your questions.... it is still a good idea to get a pressure gauge, since it will be very useful to trouble shoot your plumbing if you ever run into issue. With lowered pressure, it will give you lower output, and you will notice more frequent need for pre filters change due to larger amount of processed water (RO+brine) with same amount of RO water.

The faucet attachment is pretty easy to fine. Most RO filter seller will have it too, maybe you can order it with the filter if you have not got it already. You can also find the attachment in hardware store, but can be more difficult to find.
