Hey guys, just wanted to report my experience with you. That Fish Place in Lancaster, PA has always been kinda my LFS. They're unbeatable for prices and selection on dry goods. Their live fish have always been kinda below par, however. They just threw a bunch of different species in tons of 40gal. tanks, and there were many fish that appeared unhealthy.
Well, over the past few months they were redesigning everything in their fish room. Now the freshwater fish are still in those 40 gal. tanks, but the marine fish are in such a better environment! They're replaced those 40gal's with tons and tons of various sized acrylic tanks. This allows them to go species specific. Some tank with popular fish such as yellow tangs, ocellaris, and damsels are in a larger tank together, but some more speciallized ones like purple tangs and harlequin tusks(sp?) are by themselves in like 2gal partitions. Heck they even stock sharks now too.... (if you can get passed the $500 price tag! )The fish appear SO healthy compared to what they used to be. Also, they now have all of their corals and clams in a HUGE tank that's about 6' wide x 30' long x 1' deep. Hanging over the tanks are many many halides. Their selection is at least twice as what it used to be. Supposedly a major filtration upgrade was also part of the project.
If you're ever in the area of Lancaster, PA, it's definately worth the trip, especially if you need a lot of dry goods. LiveFishDelivery.com is the online supplier of fish from That Fish Place, so obviously I can now say I recommend fish from that source too.
