I recently moved tanks, 100g -> 120g. In the new sump the down pipe and the return pump are located on one side of the sump and the EuroReef Skimmer is located clear on the other side of the sump. Its not a terrible huge sump ~40g.... Now my EuroReef Skimmer doesn't produce any waste... Is it because the input and output are so close to one another and the skimmer is not getting "new" water to skim? Has anyone experienced this before? The tank has been set up for 3 months now.. Corals are doing well, fish too... additionally it should be noted that I feed a ton. Everyday a mixture of Cyclopeeze, formula 1, reef formula, phytoplankton.... Shouldn't I be skimming something????

Have you ever cleaned the venturi valve? if not get a cup of hot water and let the air valve suck it up, make sure your skim cup is empty first cause it will make the water in the skimmer rise. This will clean any salt build up inside the air valve. If this is the problem you will see a huge difference.

It may need time to adjust to the new conditions. Give it some time. You may want to raise the return tube so some wet foam coats the neck.

both very good recommendations but I clean the venturi valve ever 2 weeks with a cup of piping hot fresh water, and the riser tube is all the way up... Just seems wierd that after 3 months I haven't gotten a any real gunk to speak of...

So you dont get anything in the cup after 3 months? With 4 fish and 3 shrimp and a once a day feeding (light) in my 90 I still have to empty my cup at least twice a week. How are your nitrate levels? Did the acrylic come in contact with any sort of detergent or something that may have coated the inside? Maybe you need to give your cleanup crew medals for a job well done. :)

I have the same issue. Almost a month now with no skimming on ES 8-2. 75G SPS tanks with 6 fish. I do ozone as well and was expecting better skimming but this thing won't skim at all. My CL-650 chiller is a closed loop in the sump and brings the temp down quickly when the chiller is running. Cleaned the pump and venturi valve as well to no avail. Called Euro-Reef two times this week but get an answering machine.
