Hello guys,

My ph has been pretty stable at about 8.11. I have been slowly adding 2 part calcium solution to bring the cal up to proper levels. I have been monitoring and the ph thus far has still stayed below 8.2. But yesterday i noticed that it climbed to 8.35...nothing is hurting...when the tank cycles does the ph raise at all. I can't really figure out what happened.

A lot of possibilities, but this is what likely happened IMO. Adding the 2 part solution buffered the tank and thus elevated the pH a little. On top of that, all the decaying stuff during the cycle is finally slowing down and regrowing, and thus the pH comes back up. Decaying matter will supress pH and O2 levels.

8.35 is a fine pH to have. I wouldn't worry.

Yea, I know that, what I was more worried about was the .2 jump in a time period of approx 8hrs. Im sure it will all be fine.
