Why is my Sebae anemone doing so well?

I did everything wrong: I bought it without doing the research, put it under pc lights only, high up in the tank (not on the sand bed), and yet it changed from bleached white to almost completed brown within a couple weeks, and seems to be thriving?? I have since: educated myself, ordered MH lights (with my tax refund), started feeding it, and so on.. Could it be that this thing is going to make it, or is this just a temperary condition, and when I get home tonight, it will be a blob of goo? It's anchored itself to a piece of LR and looks great (at first I thought the brown color was a bad thing). MH lights are arriving next week. Should I move it lower in the tank when I get them, or leave it where it is?

I don't know but when I read your post my hand curls up into that ball of rage. Hehe. I took great pains to keep my Sebae hybrid alive and the sucker just would not cooperate.

Nope, it died.

My porcelain crab was bereft of a home for a few days, but she finally took up residence on my green star polyp conlony. LOL!

My first anemone was a sebae. My conditions were about the same as yours and I bought a bleached anemone as well. It's funny how things work out. I too did no research and my results were a healthy anemone.

ANEMONEBUFF, How long did yours last? Any other tips you can give me?

I had my sebae for about two years. I then traded him for a Bubble tip anemone at the LFS. My BTAs can be seen by clicking on my link. I bred the BTAs for three years. I no longer keep anemones. I have now diversified, and I'm keeping SPS,LPS,clams, and softies.

Hello all would just like to add I had a long tenticle did really well in my small tank so I got an anenome crab and s.o.b ate the crab :x So I took the long tenticle to the lps and got a sea apple and I'm much happier with him :!:

Not funny lol I fed him every other day and suplimented the water for him and my shrooms.He was just a pig thats all but its all good now cuz he has probably killed off the crab supply at the lps :twisted:
