HELP!!!!!!

i just came home and saw that my achilles tang was on the sand beside a rock. flaping his fins and breathing really hard. before i left he was acting normal (swimming through-out the tank, occationally picking on my male anthia)....OK....why would he be acting this way???? What would cause this??? ALL of my other shrimps and fish are fine (acting normal). **sigh** please help me...

[the red is "red slime algae"..., i had a little problem...and siphoned all of it out...(except that). ]

I dunno what happened here but I had a similar thing happen to a yellow tang earlier in my reef keeping exp. Fish was doing fine for months and then just all of a sudden blammy on its side breathing fast.

Sadly he never got better and I stopped trying to keep tangs.

We need more information to try to determine what is the cause.
How big of tank?
Is it covered?
Filtration and circulation?
How long has it been set up?
Other inhabitant?
Water parameters?
What other symptoms does the fish have i.e. spots, lesions, lumps, redness of gills, etc. ?
btw Cyano isn't a good omen.

:? .........ok, 75 gal-set up for 4 yrs. (most of LR and corals...) up-graded to lrg.er tank. euro skim 5-2, sedra 12000, 2-maxijet 1200, MH & PC's///did mo. 20% wat chng...water chem. is fine. phosphate lil high (0.03), sal.-0.025, temp-78/80 F, no spots/marks/bumps ( i chk him every day...being an achilles.), all other fish r perfectly fine. ...4 sm/md anthias and fariy wrasse.

That red slime could be an indicator of declining water quality. It may be consuming the bad stuff, thus it does not show on your test kits.

The fast breathing IMO is a sign of a decrease in 02 in the water or that there is something attacking the fishes gills.

I could swear that in an earlier post you said this tank was 3 months old.. :|

Those pictures of the tang are not at all clear, has it fattened up at all?

As I expected and hoped, others have raised pertinent questions. At the moment I'll let your answers to me slide and await your answers to the others though I do have 2 more. How big is this fish ? What were the exact test results on ammonia and nitrates ?
