Aluminum for reflector

We went out yesterday and bought a big piece of Alum to make a reflector for our VHOs for our custom hood. This is going to be OK right?? I've seen some saying galvinized steel for MH, but this is just VHOs.

Aluminum should be OK. If you buy URI VHO bulbs they have an internal reflector, so it is not necessary to have a reflctor (but it would not hurt!).

I've always used aluminum foil for compact flourescents - no problems yet. For cooler lights you can also use mylar for slightly better reflectivity but I think it would melt with VHO.

Aluminum works fine and is pretty resistent to corrosion. It's best if you can polish it to high reflectivity, but it's not critical (esp. for VHOs).

I agree with Len. I would also paint the inside of the hood white.
