Need more info.....if it is not already dead. Maybe it is just trying to whistle. Is it eating? Does it come to the surface for "air"....is it floatin yet?.......just tryin to make light of your problemo. Tell me more before you flush it. Maybe it is chokin on somethin. Give the body a big squeeze and see what happens. No really...I know your stressed out. I just have a few drinks when I get that way. I hope your fish is ok....really. If not ..well .do ya know a good fish doc :?: Not me. Cheaper and safer to just toss them in boiling water and then into the trash. Thats been my procedure with sick fish. I mean...you can get another Perc for $14.99 that keeps his mouth shut except to eat. Glad I could help. Yes Len....I am out of here. :lol: Just had to come from the Sump for air. :twisted:

I hope you are not offended by the previous poster. How long has the clown been doing this, and is there anything else visually wrong with the clown? For example, is there anything on his body? Is the clown colored differently?

she isn't floating....she is staying hidden in a cave...not acting like normal...but she did eat alot of brine yesterday...probably overfed live brine...do fish get indigestion:)...not comming to the surface, but also not eating today...

so who knows...I knows its a female...sure does act like my wife sometimes!

I doesn't really act too sick...its movements are still lively and it doesnt have problems staying upright or anything...its just not interested in going around the tank today...and wants to hold its damn mouth open.

water specs are ok...no sign of bad chemistry.

ph 8.17
sg 1.024
amonia 0
nitrite <0.1
nitrate 5

temp = 80

i added a pump to give it some oxygen in the tank to see if that helps...im only running it a min or 2....probably 5 times a day to see what happenss.

Ok.....so how is she doin today. Is she eating? I love these fish. My harlot wife thinks I should get a few more of them but I am afraid it will cause problems in my established tank. I only have one right now. How can you tell if its a female?

The sex themselves bang.. (Yeah, I said it that way just for your benefit.. :D)

Seriously though, whichever fish is the dominant will become the female with typically up to 3 subordinate males in the group. - If something happens with the dominant (female) the highest ranking male then becomes female..

So, for instance.. - With the movie Nemo... - I had a great time teasing my kids in saying that Nemo's dad had a sex change after he lost his mom.. :P

But... - Bang, your question is still a good question.. - I mean, if it's not old enough to be sexually mature it wouldn't be either yet..

My guess though is that if everything else is fine with it. - Its eating good, water quality is good and its just acting "wierd" and spending a lot of time "hiding" that its actually trying to spawn.. - Just that there's no male so if it does, the eggs will probably not be fertilzed. - I say probably because some wierd "stuff" happens in nature sometimes and well, who knows.... :wink:
