Hey,

Isn't the stuff called detrius? How can I keep it off my rockwork and so forth. Does stronger current help, or does it just help it fly around? i only have 1 MJ900 for current right now, but I should receive another MJ1200 this weekend from Bigalsonline.

I think most of the problem is that there is a thin layer of hair algae that traps the stuff...doesn't help. I think I'm getting the best of it though. It is VERY pale colored now, doesn't look like healthy plant growth anymore. Will I experiance a noticable spike if this stuff dies off all at once?

How about trying to suck it up during a water change?

Once you have enough current in your tank, and if you have adequate skimming, you shouldn't have a problem. When I had my 37 gallon, I have 2 MJ 1200's and 2 MJ900's running on a wavemaker, just to give you an idea of how much current you might need...

In the mean time a turkey is a good idea, blowing off the rocks, or you can get a long piece of rigid tubing, connect it to some airline, and siphon it out. This makes a really easy "wand" to get at all the crevices in the rock...

I use a spare powerhead and each time I blow off the rocks, more settles on the bottom which I then remove during a water change.
