Hi there folks,

I have a 180g AGA reef tank which is now cyclying .. again.

I went work abroad and the tank crashed badly, to the point all corals and fishes ( at the exception of my first saltwater fish - Zebrasoma Xanthurum at age 8 and a Pomacanthus Asfur ( and people say this guys is touchy ;-) ) died and algae was all over the place. When I mean all over the place, I mean that 8 buckets full of algae ( 40g buckets ) were taken out of the tank and the Live Rock ( not so live ) was scratched for a all day to remove the algae.

So all the tank is clean now, new RO water in, density is at 1.022, temperature is fine, skimmer is working ( Aquamedic Baby 5000 ) and things are going.

My fish are at the LFS for the time being and will continue to be there until I think the tank is ready to recive them - which wont happen in the next couple of months.

At the time the tank crashed ( main factor was the CO2 bottle that went bezerk and poured all at once to the tank causing lack of O2 and algae to flourish ) the fish population was :

Sohal Tang
Naso Tang
Zebrasoma Xanthurum
Zebrasoma Desjardin
Couple of Maroon clowns
Pomacanthus Asfur
6 to 9 chromis
Blennies

As the knowladge minds can attesst, I had ( or was trying to make ) a Red Sea biotope. I love the Red Sea, and yes, fish pop was high, but since I have a overrated skimmer ( Baby 5000 ) and a refugium with caulerpa, no3 was 0, phosphate is almost negiletable.

So my question is :

Can I have a Lionfish ( one fsh that I always loved ) with this setup ? I dont fear the tangs, but what abou thte clowns ? And the chrmois ? blennies ? Any lions suitable with a lysmatta cleaner shrimp ? Or they are food ? what is the problem with anemones and lionfish ? any other clows that may resist a lion ? I thought about marrons ( premnas spp ) because they are the largest of all clowns and I inted on buying a Pterois Radiata ( medium size when adult ) or a Dendo.Zebra, whcih stays rather small.

Alternative setup is :

5 to 6 Zebrasom Flavcens ( juveniles )
Zebrasoma Xanthurum
Pocamthus Asfur
Naso OR Sohal, but I would go for the naso - much more peacefull than the Sohal.

would a Lionfish fit in this setup ?

If I would buy FIRST the clowns then a couple ( can I have a couple of radiatas or dwarf like the D.Zebra ?) of lionfishes, uveniles, would they attacke the clowns when they get bigger orcan they be accostumised to the clowns and not eating them ? Same thing applies for the cleaner shrimp ?

Best regards and thanks to you all
