Nice, Ricardo! I've a few T.maxima spawn too, and it's always a sight to behold. Nice pics (one of many from your website below :))

Great pictures, you must be doing something right!

I've heard clams spawn when stressed. Can anyone confirm/deny?

Found it! Still, it isn't the case in every spawning incident in the home aquarium.

Critter Corner
Tridacnid Clams: The Basics
By Elizabeth M. Lukan 7/22/99

Tridacnids in the home aquarium may spawn after some kind of disturbance to their environment. This would include excessive additions of freshwater, increased lighting, addition of carbon, or UV exposure. The clams sometimes die a few days after spawning in the home aquarium. This is probably because of the disturbance to their environment and not the actual spawning. But, there is also the chance that the sperm release may be toxic and the amount of sperm within the closed system of the aquarium kills the clams. In the case of a spawning in the home aquarium, a partial water change afterwards is recommended.

I know corals can spawn when severely stressed, and I'm sure clams can too. When my chiller went wacko and dropped my tank temp to below 65, lots of things in my tank decided to spawn.

But it's much cooler when they spawn and aren't stressed :) It's always nice to see, but I definitely hate the smell and clean-up afterwards :P

Think of it as child birth. In some cases, stress can indue childbirth/miscarriage. But in some other cases, it is just a normal childbirth without any complication when the fetus is 9 months old.

I am sure JimM's was born when his mother miscarriaged. :P ;)
