Ballast question from lighting.reefs.org

I was checking the spectra of some SE and DE bulbs on the lighting.reefs.org page. I noticed that for ballast selection, several of the SE bulbs offered the choice of an M80 ballast which I thought was primarily reservered for DE bulbs. Is it possible to use an m80 ballast to light most SE bulbs?

Acronyms yay.
