GSP's and Tangs

Has anybody had problems with yellow and sailfin tangs eating the stolons of GSP's.

I have a feeling they are looking for little bits of algae but in the process the tangs are doing quite a bit of damage to the GSP's. The polyps aren't extending out of the shoots they retract into.

Any input would be helpful.

My tangs have never bothered my GSP. FWIW, GSPs have a tendancy to retract for days to weeks for no ascertainable reason, but then open back up like nothing was wrong
