But in a sump the rock doesnt get much light so your coraline will either not grow or bleach.

Up to you though, there are plenty of people with lr in their sump

I would suggest that you put it in your tank that way your fish can feed off of it and if you decide to get corals and such it will provide a base to attach them to. Also the rockwork provides hiding places and such for fish and will reduce the stress of some.

Just my opinion, but you could put the majority of the LR in the display, and then put the remainder in the sump. Extra filtration can't hurt.

I keep it in both places, it lets the 'pods and other critters reproduce in the sump rock (less predation).
