Well, its here! my first problem and its my fault. I had some pesky macro growing in my main tank, finally I got sick of it and yanked it out. The next day I had cyno covering portions of my sand. I should have removed the macro slowly as to not upset the system. Live and learn.

For now, how can I get rid of this crap. I tried the no lights deal for about a week but its coming back. Parameters are all fine, I think it was just a sudden nutrient explosion that set it off. How can I beat this stuff before it gets out of hand?

It thrives off of nutrients, as you said. Doing things like using antibiotics and reducing the light cure the symptoms, not the root of the problem. Add some macroalgae in a refugium, skim, don't overfeed, run activated carbon, etc. to reduce nutrients in the water.

Thats what I thought, I added a huge clump of grape to my fuge the other day, hopefully it helps. I'm going to add some carbon also.

Thanks for the suggestion
