Ok, my LARGE blue hippo this am was face first in the anemonoe, about 2/3 consumed. Obviously dead.

1) is that something that "just happens" Dori had been in the tank with that anemonoe for several months.
2) Should I leave the fish to get eaten? Will it mess up chemistry?
3) should I replace dori?

I'd leave her in there. I have a large carpet anemone that has snagged a couple of fish,,, (clown goby and Redlip blenny), I guess it's just a risk you take keeping a carpet in there,,, mine snags hermits and Turbo snails all the time.

Having a large carpet anemone in an aquarium is a little like playing Russian roulette. Eventually the fish will bump into it and be eaten. If you replace "Dorey," the new fish will eventually suffer the same fate as the original "Dorey."

My suggestion would be to make a choice between the carpet anemone and a mixed population of fish. The only fish that are safe with carpet anemones are certain species of clownfish.

I'm sorry for you loss too. and I am glad you posted.

think I'll leave my 1" dori in the macro algae culture tank until it gets bigger. I do have an anemone in the display. So thanks for the warning.
