Hi,
I wonder if there are any sponge enthusiasts around who can help me find a one (or a few) species of sponges that I would like to keep. I've checked nearly every online supplier I could find, and they usually only offer the same few types of tree or clump sponges. I'm looking for a tube or vase sponge, preferrably a purple/blue or red/pink variety for aesthetic reasons. Here's a list to give you an idea of what I'm interested in:
Most desired:
Callyspongia plicifera "Azure vase sponge" (photo)
Aplysina archeri "Stove pipe sponge" (photo)
Callyspongia fallax "Fused tube sponge" (photo)
Niphates digitalis "Pink vase sponge/fuzzy vase sponge" (photo)
Mycale laxissima "Strawberry/Carnelian vase sponge" (photo)
Also interested in:
Callyspongia longissima "Gray pipe sponge"
Callyspongia vaginalis "Blue vase sponge"
Siphonochalina sp. (photo)
Amphimedon compressa "Smooth rope sponge" (photo)
Amphimedon rubens "Red rope sponge"
Aplysina cauliformis "Flute pore rope sponge" (photo)
Does anyone keep any of these? Would someone be willing to "frag" one?
