Personal preference. Try to see (if you can) the bulb, ballst combo you want to use. In some cases the Mag will put out more light, in some case not. The e-ballast tend to use less electricity and run cooler. I am using a coralview electroninc for my DE set up. Another poit is the electronic can generally run either SE or DE. If you go with the magnetic make sure you pair the ballast to the bulb.
