Alright, here’s my stupid ich question. I’ve heard a couple of different opinions about the dormant period of ich. Some people have said that it can lay dormant for a long time and that you can never really get rid of it in your tank. They have also said that ich comes in on coral, rock, etc and that it’s pointless to stop it. The fish will periodically catch it when their immunity is down. Others say that if you take all the fish out of your tank and treat them in quarantine the ich will die out. I’ve read and heard about these different opinions from many sources. Can someone solve this question for me once and for all? My fish have ich (*sigh*) :? . There’s no way I can get them out of the tank without ripping all my rock work apart…which I’d rather not do. I want to get correct info before I act.

One side of the argument is based on scientific fact and trials with the parasite and the other is myth and legend. I guess you get to decide which is which. People that properly quarantine all there fish for 3+ weeks before they place them into their display tank rarely have ich in that tank. People that don't properly quarantine usually have a problem with ich in their display tank sooner or later. If you would like to read more about ich then try this link:

JUST AN IDEA>. (maybe not a good one.. BUT AN IDEA NONE THE LESS)

I know in FW thanks you can treat ICH by gradually raising the water temp to around 82... (successfully done this with fw angels a few times)
